This is lichen that was growing in my yard. Lichen is a simple plant consisting of a fungus that grows sybiotically with algea, forming a crustlike or branching growth on rocks, walls, and trees.
This piece of lettuce is an example of a long-day plant. Long- day plants flower after being exposed to light periods longer than a certain critical length, as in summer.
This small plant I found in my yard has an example of a thorn of a plant. They are small sharp-pointed, curved woody projections from the stem of this plant. They hurt.
That little black line on the leaf is a dragonfly. Dragonflys are insects, and an insect is a small arthropod animal that has six legs and generally one or two pairs of wings. Therefore, a dragonfly is an example of an insect.
