Dry fruits can be dehiscent (opening to discharge seeds) or indehiscent (not opening to discharge seeds). A cypsela is a dry single-seeded fruit that does not split open during seed dispersal and is formed from a double ovary in which only one ovule develops into a seed. (It is similar to an achene). This dandelion is a cypsela, and hence, a dry fruit with a seed.
